Googling square dance websites will produce thousands of returns, many of which will lead you to Error 404 or an out of date site. We check our displayed links regularly and believe that all of them will take you to a useful page. If you know of good square dance sites that are not listed, please advise the webmaster and he will assess their suitability for inclusion.

SQUARE & ROUND DANCING GURUS

Regarding square, round and allied forms of dance, the technical accuracy displayed within many pages of these sites is of the highest standard. Consequently they are widely accepted as 'reference sites'.

Clark Baker - Clark is involved in Squares, Rounds and Contras. Calls all the Callerlab programmes and C-4.

Vic Ceder - Calls all the Callerlab programmes and C-4. Travels widely. Vic's site is probably the most complete technical resource site available. Definitions, diagrams, choreography and historical calls are major features.

Harold & Meredith Sears -  Round Dancing site produced by the experts from Colorado. Impressive array of material including a 'Figure and Styling Manual'.

EDUCATIONAL MATERIAL

TAMinations - The most comprehensive and technically accurate animations of square dance moves on the web. The program covers all the Callerlab definitions (Basic/Mainstream through C3a) and displays moves from both the usual and not so usual starting formations.

Saddlebrook Squares SDC - Based in Tucson, Arizona, this club has an extensive website and provides the only online comprehensive Mainstream & Plus teaching videos. First class resource particularly for students.

Callerlab approved illustrated handbooks for Mainstream & Plus
These items used to be a standard issue from teaching clubs to students and this links to the site from which they can be purchased. (or it may be purchased from stock held by Granville and Wendy Spencer Tel: 0203 556 7449 or E-Mail to save on shipping costs).

Square Dance History Project - This US based site attempts to document square dance history more thoroughly and in much greater detail than has previously been done. It contains articles, photos, videos, anecdotes etc and is set to become a valuable resource. UK square dancing is represented. Two examples are a 14 minute video of the Mildred Buhler (original patron of the BAASDC) demonstration group and the 2001 promotional video Reach For The Stars featuring a host of the UK's best known callers.

Nick Varacalli's Flash Cards - Flash cards are designed to stimulate memory rather than substitute Callerlab definitions. They are a useful tool for learning, and Nick Varacalli's cards seem to be the best on offer.

Buddy Weaver this site is of special interest to all those that wish to improve their smoothness of dance

MISCELLANEOUS SQUARE DANCE SITES

DOSADO - Acknowledged as a Square Dance portal, the site has a big variety of square/round dance categories for both dancers and callers and is particularly well known for its large catalogue of recorded square dance music for sale on vinyl, CD or mp3 download.

GSI (Grand Square International) - A non-profit making organisation based in North Carolina that has satellite divisions in various regions throughout the world, including the UK. It is caller-driven and its mission is best described on this pdf document.

Square Dance Radio Network - Privately owned site (run by US caller Dayle Hodge) specializing in the broadcast of interviews with very well known US callers.

SqView - SqView is a FREE music management program for callers, cuers and line dance leaders. The program also displays lyrics, definitions and choreography and is up-dated regularly.

Keith Rubow Family and Challenge Website - Contains specialist information and articles (mainly on Challenge dancing) rarely found elsewhere, and has detailed descriptions and tips on how to create recordings of square dances. Has an extensive library of tip by tip recordings for sale.

Tony Collingwood's FREE mp3 tips - This site has lots of mp3 files available for downloading. The majority are currently patter calls for two couple dancing at the Advanced and Challenge programmes but there are several at the Mainstream and Plus programmes and their number is on the increase, as is the number of tips geared to full squares.

Route SDC  takes visitors to the home page of a mapping system whose webmaster intends to provide map locations for every square dance club in Europe. Although not complete, it has progressed far enough for it to be considered a useful resource.
